STEVEN KIM holds a master's degree in social work from USC. His areas of concentration include gangs, mitigation investigation in capital penalty cases and working together with faith-based communities.
His work in the community and academia are shaped by his own life experiences on the streets. His academic knowledge in criminal justice and social work theory has allowed him to collaborate with agencies that are on the forefront of working with gang youth in their efforts to collectively approach the issues of intervention, violence, rehabilitation, trauma, abuse and lowering recidivism. He conducts trainings on state and federal levels throughout the nation regarding primary multisystemic factors that contribute to gang membership and violence.
Kim is lead pastor at Purpose Community Church. He also works with the Orange County Department of Education, Safe Schools, in gang intervention and prevention.
