Biography

Steve Masur is Senior Partner at MasurLaw, a US-based technology and venture law firm with clients worldwide.

Steve founded MasurLaw in 1994 to focus on the tectonic shifts in law and business caused by emerging internet technologies. Steve’s diligent counsel has helped some of the breakthrough digital entertainment and internet companies go step by step from start to successful exit, whether through M&A, IPO, or just ongoing business success. Fascinated with the new business models being developed by these companies, Steve focused on creating the contracts that made them run, and working out the legal problems holding them back. Steve has stuck with this passion and built a law firm which has attracted some of the best legal minds in digital media and technology exploitation. As a result, MasurLaw has been on the forefront of each successive wave of new media technology, including cable and digital TV, internet delivery, mobile content, games, Web 2.0, mobile Apps, and now the savvy exploitation of brands and content across all media platforms. He has also applied the sometimes brutal lessons learned from emerging technologies to a wide variety of other industries, always building upon these lessons to drive more quickly toward his client’s success in any industry. Finally, Steve has taken the lead in many initiatives aimed at helping the law adapt to new technology as it develops. Steve chairs the New York Bar’s Technology and Venture Law Committee and has served on a variety of trade and industry association boards, such as the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, New York’s TechVenture Law Committee. the Industrial and Technology Assistance Corporation and the New York Tech Meetup.
