Biography
Prior to joining The Lancer Group, Struan led his own search firm, which was focused on C-level searches for private equity portfolio companies. Before that Struan spent eight years with a major search firm, where he most recently led the Private Equity Practice as a Senior Partner. He led the healthcare practice and was also involved in the consumer practice. At a time that was very important to the firm, Struan took over the CFO role and significantly improved the cost structure and cash position of the firm. He also improved the transparency, insights, and control environment of the finance department.
Before entering into executive search, Struan was a business strategy advisor at Bain & Company where he assisted clients across many industries including healthcare and consumer. Struan was based in Bain’s San Francisco, Sydney, Johannesburg, London, Paris, and Los Angeles offices.
Earlier in his career, Struan was a process engineer.
Struan holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from Monash University (Melbourne, Australia), and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
