Biography

Susan Chapman is a lecturer at Loyola Marymount University, where she teaches in the Yoga Studies program. She holds an MA, MFA and Post-Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy and is identified as a Certified International Association of Yoga Therapists practitioner and Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher.

Her work focuses on the academic and applied study of yoga, including yoga philosophy, Vedic education, yoga therapy and the relationship between yoga practice and health. She brings together textual, philosophical and embodied approaches to the study of yoga and its contemporary therapeutic applications.

Chapman presented research on changing perspectives on menopause at LMU's 2020 Yoga Studies Graduate Colloquium. Her graduate work has also examined yoga therapy in Western culture, including distinctions between healing and curing.

In addition to teaching, Chapman writes and edits on health care and health information topics. Her published work has addressed gender-affirming health care, cancer registry careers, health information management and revenue cycle management.
