Tyler DeGroot, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of accounting at Loyola Marymount University. His research interests include corporate tax avoidance, individual taxes, taxpayer interaction with tax authorities, and corporate governance in non-profits. Tyler taught financial accounting during his time as a doctoral student at the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Tyler spent four years in public accounting, where he focused on the needs of high net worth individuals, including individual tax planning and compliance, gift, estate, and trust taxation, nonprofits, and pass-through entities. Tyler is licensed as a certified public accountant in the State of California and previously earned a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California Lutheran University.
