Biography
Valerie Smaldone is a 5-time Billboard Magazine Award winner and is well known for her unprecedented success holding the #1 on air position in the New York radio market. She has hosted, produced and created numerous nationally syndicated programs featuring in-depth interviews with top recording artists such as Paul McCartney, Celine Dion, Rod Stewart, Phil Collins, and Mariah Carey, among others.
Her innovative talk show, “Valerie’s New York,” was the first originally produced Internet radio show for WOR’s Internet station, www.wor710.com.
On television, she has appeared in "The Following" been a featured reporter on NBC for the Columbus Day Parade, interviewed on the PIX 11 Morning News, appeared on “The Balancing Act” on Lifetime Television and has been an interviewer and feature reporter for TonyAwards.com (having interviewed beloved performers like Liza Minelli, Patti LuPone, Geoffrey Rush and Whoopi Goldberg, among many others.) She has also written and hosted a series of daily televised news briefs on theater (“Broadway Bulletin.”)
Valerie can be heard on a variety of commercials and television promos and as narrator on "Fatal Encounters" on Investigation Discovery. Her voice has been featured on NBC, CBS, Lifetime, among many other channels, as well as on The Boomer Esiason Show, and on hundreds of spots including IBM, Verizon and Apple. Most recently she has been the “Voice of God” for many prestigious live events including: The Kennedy Center, The Clinton Global Initiative, The New York Emmy Awards, The Tony Preview Concert on CBS, Broadway on Broadway in Times Square, Broadway Under the Stars in Central Park, The GLAAD Media Awards, The Point Foundation, and many more.
As adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts, Valerie teaches a course on How to be a Media Personality and Voice-over and coaches talent privately.
She is also a professional presenter on behalf of E4Health, an EAP company. In addition, Valerie coaches all kinds of non-professional speakers, including physicians and corporate managers on the art of communication and presentation.
Valerie is a sought after speaker, professional host and emcee. She emceed the National Association for Professional Women’s first conference in New York City as well as the 1st Women’s Empowerment Summit in New York. She hosts and produces her "Legends of Music" series at 92Y, interviewing superstar performers like Cyndi Lauper and Michael Bolton.
