WAYNE BARNSTONE joined the adjunct faculty at the Virtual Academic Center in 2011, serving as an instructor, field liaison and external field supervisor.
A licensed clinical social worker, he has more than 20 years of experience in outpatient mental health as both a therapist and administrator. For the past 15 years, he has trained and supervised social work interns and new clinicians. He is currently the assistant clinic director of a nonprofit mental health facility in Suffolk County, New York. Prior to his social work career, he spent 10 years on Wall Street, where his last position was as chief investment officer of a $3 billion portfolio based mainly in Asia.
Barnstone has a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University, as well as a master’s degree from Columbia’s School of International Affairs with a focus on international banking and finance.
