Biography

Yvette J. Saavedra is Visiting Assistant Professor in Chicana/o Studies for 2015-2017. She teaches both introductory lower division and specialized upper division courses in Chicana/o Studies and Chicana/o History. She has been affiliated with LMU since 2005 when she began as a part-time faculty member. She is currently working on her manuscript, Competing Visions of Identity and Land Use in a California Borderland: Pasadena, 1771-1890, in which she examines the links between land use, race, space, ethnicity, and gender in the processes of conquest, colonialism, expansion, and nationalism.
