Zhishuo (Peter) Liu

Zhishuo (Peter) Liu is one of the most successful investors in China. His portfolio has recently hit a major milestone with over 20 companies at $1B+ valuations with 6 companies gaining 100x investment returns. He is a graduate of the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) which is referred to as the “MIT of China” due to its dominant reputation in Science & Engineering research within the country. HIT is consistently ranked as one of the top universities in the country with a focus on science and engineering. Mr. Liu is also a member of Tsinghua PBCSF in EMBA Phase IV.

Mr. Liu has served on a number of investment and economic advisory committees and boards. His early and later-stage investments include:

River VC (ZRC Venture Capital Fund) with Chinese Yuan ($85 million US dollars), investing globally in early-stage high-tech ventures. ZhongGuanCun Longmen Fund ($10 billion Chinese Yuan / $1.47 B USD under management)
Investor in innovation enterprises in Zhongguancun Science Park) ZhongGuanCun M&A Fund (11.9 billion Chinese Yuan / $1.75B USD under management)

Major companies that Mr. Liu has invested (by individuals and through investment institutions) contain ChangYou, Lakala, GONN Network, Xpeng Automobile, Applyboard, Infervision, Idriverplus Technology Co., Ltd., JOY WING MAU, QiAnXin, Dingdang Health, New Journey Hospital Group, DeepWise, etc.

Mr. Liu is also an active member of numerous entrepreneurial-related public programs and is also a philanthropist. His social and philanthropic activities include ZhongGuanCun U30 (a program to promote the innovation and entrepreneurship of youth); and as a Sponsor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Liu’s work in Canada includes active support for the China Canada Angels Alliance (CCA) - An China-Canada cross-border exchange platform for startup entrepreneurs. CCAA was recognized as Canada’s most active angel institution by NACO in 2015. CCAA has also been the sole partner of OCI (Ontario Center of Innovation) to China since 2015. CCAA has invested 40+ companies in Ontario, Canada to date. CCAA is a pioneer in helping invest in new immigrants’ startups in the Canadian market. One of CCAA’s earliest investments in Canada was Applyboard in Waterloo, which has now grown to be a world-class company - one of 20 unicorn companies in Canada.
