Geoffrey D. Creighton is Senior Vice-President, General Counsel and Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for IGM Financial Inc. Geoff is responsible for overseeing the legal, compliance and corporate secretarial functions of IGM and its subsidiaries, Investors Group, Mackenzie Investments, and Investment Planning Counsel.  IGM is one of Canada's largest managers and distributors of mutual funds and other managed asset products.  It is a public company with over $125 billion of assets under management, and a market capitalization of $12 billion.  IGM is part of the Power Corporation of Canada group of companies, a diversified international group of companies in the financial services, communications and other sectors.

Prior to joining IGM in 2008, Geoff was a corporate partner with Torys LLP in Toronto. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, complex corporate finance and cross-border securities transactions, corporate governance and litigation, as well as international joint ventures.

A graduate of the University of Western Ontario (B.A.) (gold medal) and the University of Toronto (LL.B) (gold medal), Geoff was called to the Bar in 1982, and joined Torys at that time. He clerked with Mr. Justice Estey at the Supreme Court of Canada for his articling year, 1980 – 1981. 

In a voluntary capacity, Geoff is Past-Chair of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, and has chaired and served on several committees of the Canadian Bar Association, and its Council, most recently as Chair of National Membership.  For twenty years he was Ontario Editor of the Canadian Bar Review.
