Biography
An internal medicine physician executive, Mensah focuses on health equity, clinical quality improvement, patient safety, health system design and care delivery transformation. His work connects clinical standards and operations with physician/APC experience, patient outcomes and the needs of communities facing unequal access and high disease burdens.
Before assuming his current role, he served as Chief Medical Officer for ChristianaCare’s Wilmington Campus. Earlier, he was Managing Director of the Center for Integration Science in Global Health Equity, a World Health Organization Collaborating Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School, and Firm Chief in the Department of Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He also advised health systems through McKinsey & Company and contributes to the Africa CDC/African Union High-Level Advisory Committee on Noncommunicable Diseases, Injuries and Mental Health. He also previously worked as a financial analyst at Goldman Sachs.
Mensah earned an M.D. from Harvard Medical School, an MBA from Harvard Business School and an A.B. in Mathematics and Biology from Dartmouth College. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. His professional recognitions include Harvard Medical School’s 2022 Charles McCabe Faculty Prize for Excellence in Teaching and selection as a 2019 National Minority Quality Forum 40 Under 40 Leader in Minority Health.
