Loyola Marymount University is a top-ranked national university by U.S. News and World Report, which places LMU among the top six Jesuit universities in the country and in the top six private universities in California. Founded in 1911, LMU is a Catholic, Jesuit, and Marymount university with more than 7,100 undergraduate students and more than 3,000 graduate and law students. Boris Kaplan, a longtime TV producer, began his producing career with the TV series “Omnibus,” sponsored by the Ford Foundation and subsequently worked with Alistair Cook and others during the 1940s and ’50s.

Kaplan relocated to Los Angeles from New York in the late 1950s and became executive producer for CBS and was director of nighttime programming.

He produced a feature film, Columbia’s “Let No Man Write My Epitaph” (1960), and during the 1961-62 season produced the TV series “87th Precinct” starring Robert Lansing and Gena Rowlands.

Born and reared in Brooklyn, Kaplan graduated from Cornell U. in 1935 and earned a law degree from St. John’s U. in 1941. He also served as a tenured associate professor at Loyola Marymount.

During World War II, he was assigned to the Frank Capra unit that produced films for the war effort.
