After Manchester – What is New York doing to stay safe from growing threats of terror?

A threat of renewed terror or another attack on New York City has been a reality for the Big Apple for more than 15 years now. But after last week’s suicide bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester England – anxiety and worry among law enforcement and the public has drastically increased.

Concerts, especially venues aimed at young girls were likely not on many people’s radar as a place to worry about one’s safety, let alone the safety of their children. But that has all changed.

So, what will New York City have to do differently? Is it changing its tactics, approach or strategy? Are there any events or venues that are no longer seen as low risk? And what is the city doing to carry on as if life were normal when beefed up security and the ongoing feeling of an imminent terrorism strike is the new normal?

That’s where the experts at Farmingdale State College can help. Dr. LaNina Cooke is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Farmingdale.
