The web is being reorganized around expertise.
To combat fake news, Google has released the EAT (Expertise, Authority and Trust) and BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) algorithms that prioritize results with recognized expert attribution. Other major tech platforms are following-suit.
Consumers and customers are searching for trust. Edelmen’s Trust Barometer reports that social media and blogs are the least trustworthy of all digital content, and that expert content is the most trusted.
Businesses that are able to showcase their expertise online, in a digitally-compliant fashion, will benefit disproportionately from their competitors with increased lead generation, organic reach and media pickup.
