WLI presents scholarships in Merrill and Mechanicsburg

(a stock insurer)1, and its Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) presented two scholarships this year: a third annual scholarship to a Merrill High School senior and a second annual scholarship to a Mechanicsburg High School senior. The scholarship program represents the company’s deep commitment to education and preparing women for leadership roles.
Merrill, Wisconsin, recipient Erin Murray will attend University of Wisconsin at Madison, majoring in psychology (pre-law) with a minor in business. Erin gained leadership skills from her parents and through her experience as a team captain for basketball and tennis. She put those skills to use in leadership roles with LEAD, DECA, National FFA and the Mock Trial Team, along with volunteering for Big Brothers Big Sisters and working as a lifeguard at the Bierman Family Aquatic Center.
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, recipient Harleen Kaur will attend Thomas Jefferson University East Falls Campus, in the accelerated health sciences/physician assistant program. Harleen has stretched her leadership skills as a member of the Cumberland – Perry Drug and Alcohol Commission – Youth Advisory Board where she assisted with interviews, planned and led sections of meetings and provided input to the adult advisors.
Due to COVID-19, the scholarship application process was conducted through virtual presentations and conference calls rather than in-person meetings.
