Will the International Energy Agency's decision to release crude from the strategic reserve help bring down oil and gas prices?
Interim Executive Director & Associate Research Professor
Theoretically, if you increase the supply of something, the price can come down a little. In practice, the impact is really, really, really small on that global market in terms of that global price.
The release from these reserves is, I think, more targeted and strategic in terms of making sure that individual refineries have access to that oil as opposed to having a big impact on the global price of that commodity.
