Biography
Denise Jean-Louis, Ph.D., is an associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences at Cedarville University. Her expertise is in medicinal and natural products chemistry, with research interests in natural product drug discovery, anticancer agents and antioxidants.
Her scholarly work examines the medicinal chemistry and biological activity of compounds relevant to cancer and central nervous system conditions. Her research has included studies of glioblastoma cell growth, apoptosis, epidermal growth factor receptor signaling and plant-derived compounds.
Jean-Louis teaches and conducts research within Cedarville University's School of Pharmacy, where pharmaceutical sciences research addresses drug discovery, development and safety. Her work contributes to the study of potential therapeutic agents and the biological mechanisms associated with their effects.
She earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and food chemistry and a doctorate in chemistry from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica. She completed postdoctoral research fellowships at the University of Iowa and the University of Kansas and joined Cedarville University in 2012.
