Biography
Before joining Cedarville, Castro worked as a political reporter for VEJA and as an editor at Gazeta do Povo in Brazil. He covered presidential elections, political corruption and public policy, and has contributed to publications including National Review Online and The Daily Signal.
His research examines Brazilian political institutions, populism, public administration and the relationship between political rhetoric and policy outcomes. His scholarly work includes research on Brazil’s COVID-19 vaccination program and the institutional conditions that shaped government responses to anti-science populism.
Castro holds a PhD in political science from the University of Kansas, a Master of Arts in politics from Hillsdale College, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Brasília.
