Josh Kira, Ph.D.

Josh Kira, Ph.D., is associate professor of philosophy and theology at Cedarville University. He teaches theology courses in the Bible minor and philosophy courses including ethics and philosophy of religion.

His research interests include Heideggerian phenomenology, philosophy of language, metaphysics and theology of revelation. His work examines questions involving truth, knowledge, language, religious belief and the relationship between philosophical inquiry and Christian theology.

Kira has written and presented on revelation, hermeneutics, philosophy of language, Christian engagement with culture and the philosophical dimensions of Christian faith. His scholarly work includes contributions addressing phenomenological description, theological revelation, the epistemology and ethics of hope, and the relationship between Ludwig Wittgenstein’s philosophy and Christianity.

He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy of religion and theology from Claremont Graduate University, an S.T.M. in theology and philosophy from Yale Divinity School, and a B.A. in Bible with an emphasis in theology and apologetics from The Master’s College.
