Biography
Kirsten Travers-UyHam is an Associate Professor in the Practice of Finance at Emory University's Goizueta Business School. Her teaching and research interests include investment strategies, asset allocation, derivatives and risk management. Travers-UyHam is also the founder and managing partner of River Cam Partners, a private investment and risk advisory firm. With deep prior experience in the investment banking and hedge fund industry, most recently as Managing Director in global risk at Bear Stearns and Co. in New York, NY and Houston, TX, Travers-UyHam has focused on developing and implementing practical models for global trading strategies, risk measurement, and hedging techniques.
Dr Travers-UyHam grew up in Cambridge, UK. Her studies in mathematics took her first to Oxford University, from which she holds BA (Honours) and MA degrees. She then completed her PhD at Duke University in the study of semilinear hyperbolic partial differential equations. While at Duke she also pursued studies in finance and published research with Professor Campbell Harvey on forecasting emerging market returns using neural networks.
Dr Travers-UyHam is an affiliate member of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) and the CFA Society Atlanta. She is also a faculty advisor to Goizueta Women in Business and steering committee member of the Atlanta chapter of the Professional Risk Managers' International Association (PRMIA). Dr Travers-UyHam is an active member of 100 Women in Finance and is a member of their female fund manager database. She has been a member of several recruiting teams within investment banks and universities and actively supports initiatives to promote the advancement of women in mathematics and the finance industry.
