Biography

Dinesh Hasija, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Interim Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs at Augusta University’s Hull College of Business. His expertise includes business strategy, corporate governance, global business, geopolitics, corporate political strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and the ways institutional and political environments influence firms and executives. His research examines how companies and business leaders respond to complex strategic environments, including political uncertainty, corruption, government institutions, international markets, and differences across countries. His work also explores corporate political activity, executive leadership and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and how firms use nonmarket strategies such as lobbying and political engagement to create and protect competitive advantage. Dr. Hasija’s research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Global Strategy Journal, and Journal of Management. His research has addressed topics ranging from corporate lobbying and political connections to founder CEOs, international acquisitions, and the effects of national institutions on business strategy and performance. In addition to his research, Dr. Hasija teaches strategic management at the undergraduate and graduate levels and is actively involved in faculty development, research strategy, international education, and entrepreneurship initiatives at Augusta University. He is particularly interested in translating academic research into practical insights for business leaders, policymakers, journalists, and the broader community.

It was hard to find consistent reasons why applications were denied or approved, but there were some patterns. For instance, if your supplier was in a country that had a favorable relationship with the U.S., you were more likely to be granted an exclusion.
