Biography
Bista’s research examines how trade policies, economic conditions and institutional factors affect exports and trading relationships. His work has analyzed trade margins, economic growth takeoffs, financial development, labor market rigidity, economic sanctions, time-zone differences and participation in international trade institutions.
His research uses quantitative economic models and disaggregated trade data to investigate both the creation of new trading relationships and changes in the volume of existing trade. He teaches international trade and payments and econometrics at TCU.
Before joining TCU, Bista taught economics at Marshall University. He earned a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in economics and business administration from Coe College.
