Are you covering Amazon Prime Day?

Douglas Bowman

Professor of Marketing,  Emory University, Goizueta Business School

This week, Amazon announced June 21 and 22 as Amazon Prime Days. What does Prime Day look like after a year of internet shopping?

Goizueta Business School Professor of Marketing Doug Bowman says compared to prior years we are more comfortable with online shopping, however many of the categories featured during Prime Day like home decor, small appliances and sporting goods are the same categories that had robust sales during the pandemic. Bowman goes on to mention the shortage in semiconductors could mean fewer deals when it comes to electronics. This year, Amazon is offering special incentives to help small businesses which is a new focus and an effort to keep shoppers interested. Bowman says other retailers will offer competing sales in the days before and after Amazon Prime Day. Doug Bowman is available for interviews.
