Are you covering Empty Car Lots and Store Shelves?
A few years ago, manufacturers and other businesses moved to the supply chain dependent method of stocking supply rooms called “Just in Time” to prevent loss and keep overhead to a minimum.
But the pandemic and the resulting difficulty in securing supplies has created a global shortage of unprecedented levels. A recent New York Times article looked at the problem and found “Just In Time” management has contributed to the current empty shelves.
Goizueta Business School Professor Nikolay Osadchiy has extensive research on supply chain management and how supply networks impact a company’s risk and performance. He is available for interviews this week to discuss why “Just In Time” is now too late.
