Katie Kahl's work focuses on bridging the expertise of UMass Amherst with sustainable fisheries and coastal resilience needs. 

She is director of the UMass Amherst Gloucester Marine Station, which offers an immersive marine and coastal research, learning, and engagement experience with far-reaching applications throughout Massachusetts, New England and beyond. 

Kahl is also leader the North Shore Blue Economy initiative, integrating sustainable and resilient coastal and marine strategies with job growth and sustainable economic growth.
