Matthew Bennett, Ph.D., is associate professor of missions and theology at Cedarville University. He teaches courses in biblical studies, theology, urban missiology, contemporary world missions, global theology and world religions.

His academic and professional interests include missiology, Islam, Christian-Muslim engagement, Qur'anic studies and the relationship between theology and Christian mission. His work draws on more than seven years of intercultural ministry experience in North Africa and the Middle East.

Bennett is the author of 40 Questions About Islam, The Qur'an and the Christian and Hope for American Evangelicals. His writing examines Islam and its sacred text, Christian communication across religious differences, and the relationship between evangelical theology and missionary practice.

Before joining Cedarville University in 2017, Bennett served in international ministry and missions leadership. He earned a PhD in missiology, an M.Div. in international church planting and an M.A. in intercultural studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
