CHRIS DRAKE joined the USC social work faculty in 2013 as an adjunct lecturer at the Virtual Academic Center. He is currently teaching part-time for the school and is a member of the Department of Community, Organization, and Business Innovation.
A licensed clinical social worker and certified employee assistance professional, Drake has more than 25 years of experience working in Employee Assistance Programs and the mental health and addiction fields. He served for nine years as an executive board member on the Northern Illinois Employee Assistance Professionals Association board of directors and more than two years as the U.S. director-at-large for the International Employee Assistance Professionals Association board of directors. He continues to serve on the International EAP board.
Drake is currently director of the Metropolitan Family Services Employee Assistance Network. He provides operational oversight and is responsible for all marketing and direct sales of new accounts. He frequently interfaces with company benefits decision-makers to help create workplace-related policies for organizations. He also works closely with existing accounts, providing consultation to key leadership on the best utilization of EAP services.
Over the course of his career with the EAP, Drake developed and presented a variety of employee education seminars as well as training programs. He has also led more than 50 critical incident stress debriefing onsite interventions. In 2011, he helped to earn EAPA Chapter of the Year as president of the Northern Illinois Employee Assistance Professionals Association. From 2008 to 2012, he also served as a contributing writer for the chapter’s quarterly newsletter.
Prior to joining the employee assistance field, Drake worked in the field of addictions treatment for seven years, providing counseling services to clients and their families. He also worked in the managed care industry for four years.
He received both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Jane Addams College of Social Work.
