Biography

MARCIA WILSON, who has earned all of her college degrees at USC, embodies what it means to be a loyal "Trojan." Wilson, a long-time adjunct professor, has taught at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work for more than 20 years, in addition to having worked as a field instructor. Even though she has taught in every sequence and concentration, she most frequently teaches research methods and evaluation in the foundation year and concentration courses in mental health and COPA. One of the "pioneers" of the Virtual Academic Center (VAC), Wilson serves as the faculty lead instructor for the foundation research course, which she has taught from the VAC's first semester. She has also held the post of faculty co-chair for the Black Social Work Caucus for the last eight years and currently sits on the board of directors for the USC School of Social Work Alumni Association.

Wilson is a grants manager and program director with the Los Angeles Community College District, which she affectionately refers to as her "day job." She is responsible for managing workforce development training and educational programs to meet the needs of the emerging economy, grant writing and management, curriculum development, cultivating industry partnerships and all aspects of special projects management.

Besides her full-time job and adjunct faculty teaching duties, Wilson owns two businesses. Write on the Money Grant Writing, Program Evaluation and Consulting provides professional consultation, program evaluation and grant-writing services to secondary and post-secondary schools and non-profit organizations. Wilson Consulting, her other venture, is a small, private practice that provides individual, family and couples counseling, specializing in family dysfunction, parenting issues, juvenile delinquency, pre-marital education and counseling, sexual enhancement/sexual dysfunction, self-enhancement/personal development and family lifespan development.
