MEENA MONTEMAYOR is a licensed clinical social worker who currently works in the Foster Youth Achievement Program at the Los Angeles Unified School District. She has been working as a school social worker in various capacities for more than 16 years and is happy to return to her alma mater as an adjunct lecturer.
She has been working with families and children since graduating from USC's Master of Social Work program in 1994. Although she received her Pupil Personnel Services Credential upon graduation, she initially started her social work career with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, learning about its family reunification process. She spent her earlier years as a program specialist for the adolescent psychiatric unit at College Hospital, where she ran the adolescent treatment team meetings and spent many hours facilitating family groups to help bridge communication between family members.
She received her bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach, in applied psychology.
