Biography
Wendy Hileman is a part-time lecturer, specializing in topics surrounding program development, implementation and evaluation. She pulls from her more than 30 years of experience working in different aspects of public health, wellness, nutrition and fitness to teach courses on integrated care, research, policy and leadership.
Hileman currently serves as chief executive officer and chief financial officer of Healthy Adventures Foundation, a nonprofit organization located in San Diego, California. She has worked on a variety of collaborative research projects as part of a partner agency with UnitedHealthcare, the Rand Corporation, California Schools VEBA and more. These pilot projects aimed to create innovative ways to approach health in employee-based settings.
A seasoned speaker, she gives motivational, educational and technical presentations at conferences, work sites and academic institutions. She speaks on topics ranging from health and wellness, nutrition, mental and physical links, injury prevention, workplace wellness, disease management, and obesity prevention and intervention.
Hileman boasts a diverse educational background. She received a bachelor’s degree in physical education, specializing in athletic training; master’s degrees in social work, public health, and industrial and organizational psychology; and a PhD in industrial and organizational psychology, where she studied employee-wellness programs.
